In Conversation with Interdisciplinary Artist Sarah Bird: Imagining Systems of Care

I won't say that interdisciplinary artist Sarah Bird “speaks for the trees.” But Sarah is most definitely in conversation with them!

Sarah's current work serves as a kind of "medium" between herself ant the Coastal Redwoods. And she hopes her full scale photographs of these awe-inspiring trees will encourage us to begin to think about restorative relationships, imagine new economies of care, and consider the possibility of non-destruction.

I learned so much from my conversation with Sarah this afternoon. She shared a fascinating story about how she came to discover "tree consciousness," the sustaining refuge of her work, and what it's like to be an artist in pandemic times.

Take a listen. You won't regret it!
